Brakes Upgrades:

We offer everything from performance brake fluids, pads and cross drilled rotors to Brembo Big brake kits - all professionally installed.

What are cross-drilled rotors? Are they better? Do I need them?

All high performance cars use cross-drilling to allow the gasses produced by the brake pads under hard braking to escape. The holes act as vents so the gasses don't build up becoming a barrier between the pad and rotor. In wet driving, they become a bigger player, allowing the water on the rotor surface to escape. If you have ever driven through a big puddle and hit the brakes, you may have noticed it took more effort to stop. That effort was essentially to wipe the water off the rotors with the pads. Do you need cross drilled rotors? NO. Most drivers do not drive hard enough to gain much benefit from cross drilled rotors. But if you drive the local mountain roads often, or are an enthusiastic driver, you will definitely notice a difference. And let's face it. They look cool!

Owner's Opinion:

My take on brakes is like the old Bell helmet ads from the 1970's: "If you have a ten dollar head, buy a ten dollar helmet!" In fact, that could be my opinion on a lot of things. Doing the job right may be more costly up front, but doing the job wrong always costs more. I think you get the point.
